Depending on the electricity company you choose to go with you may find that no deposit and prepaid electricity plans are beginning to look a lot more like typical electricity plans you see with more traditional type energy companies.

In the past all you could find in regards to a good no deposit electricity plan in places like Houston and Dallas were super high rate plans that hooked you in with a $99 start up fee.

The fee only lasts a week or two and then they start asking form more money. This was the time when people began asking, “well what exactly am I paying this electric compny as far as the per kilowatt hour rate.”

What many would discover after the fact of signing up is that their rate was 16 cents per kilowatt hour and sometimes even higher then this.

Now there are prepaid electricity companies that charge competitive per kilowatt hour rates because they can use a combination of a prepaid electricity meter hooked up to a new smart meter.

The smart meter send out real time dat on the exact electric usage being used at someones home.

People can insert a prepaid electricity card into the meter and keep service on simply by recharging the card and or buying a new one and then inserting into the prepaid electric meter on the side of the house.

This type of prepaid electric company can charge based on a competitve per kilowatt hour rate because they know you will have to pay for exact electric usage and not estimated electric usage.

Quite a few prepaid electric companies would charge you based on estimated electric usage and say they would reimburse you for the difference if you paid too much.

What would then happen is that after a year or two these electricity providers that offered this no deposit prepaid plan would close up business and leave town with your money.

These scam prepaid companies will soon be no more as traditional electricity company brands you may be familiar with are beginning to offer competitive no deposit eletricity plans.

You did all the right things by selecting an energy-efficient dishwasher. But, you may be washing those savings right down the drain by using it incorrectly. Following is how to make sure you’re constantly saving on your Texas electric bill when you use your dishwasher.

Don’t Use the Rinse/Hold Feature: As nice as it is to have, don’t use this feature on your dishwasher unless it’s absolutely necessary. It’s an energy waster, consuming 3 to 7 gallons of water every time you use it. Furthermore, this water has to be heated – using even more energy. So avoid using it as much as possible.

Air Dry Dishes after Washing: Many dishwashers have an “Air Dry” or “Heat Dry” feature. These features consume anywhere from 15 to 50% more energy. So, don’t use either. To dry dishes after they finishing washing, simply open the door of the dishwasher. This is no-cost air drying – the best kind.

Scrape, Don’t Rinse: Before you load your dishwasher, don’t rinse the dishes. This can use up to 20 more gallons of water. Scrape them good and load’er up!

Check the Drain: Over time, food can build up in your dishwasher’s drain. If it gets stuck, your unit has to work harder (ie, use more energy) to clean. And, it can clog up altogether. Checking the drain regularly prevents this from happening.

Texas Electric: Don’t Wash Away Your Energy Savings

One of the easiest ways to save on your Texas electric bill is to select the right energy plan. And if you’re using a prepaid electric service plan, you’re paying more. One problem many Texas consumers have with prepaid electric plans is the premature termination of service for being even a few days late paying the bill. You don’t have to put up with this.

No-deposit electric service plans like the Texas LITE-UP Program offers consumers budget friendly solutions. With this program, for example, you get a discount on your energy bill five months out of the year.

Call your Texas electricity provider to find out how to qualify.

Save More on Your Pennsylvania Electric Bill by Selecting the Right Stove

If you’re in the market for a new stove – and want to save on your Pennsylvania electric bill — following are some factors to consider to find the most energy-efficient model.

What to Look for in an Energy-Efficient Stove

Get a Combo Stove: As in, one that is both a conventional and convection unit. Why? Because they cook faster than single units and they do it at a lower temperature.

Avoid Electric Coil Units: Electric stoves that have ceramic, halogen or induction range elements are not only more energy efficient than those that have the traditional electric coils, they give you more temperature control. A much-appreciated side benefit is that they are easier to clean as well.

Various Burner Sizes: You want a stove that has various burner sizes. This is because when you cook, you waste energy if you place, for example, a small pot on a big burner. You can waste as much as 40% of a burner’s heat by doing this.

Self-Cleaning Oven: While this may seem to waste energy, actually, it’s an energy saver because stoves with self-cleaning ovens are better insulated than those without this feature. Hence, they hold heat better and use less energy when you cook.

Is Your Energy Plan as Efficient as Your New Stove?

Why take all the time to buy energy-efficient appliances so you save money if you’re just going to turn around and give those savings away by selecting the wrong energy plan?

2 Tips for Choosing the Right Electric Service Plan

Avoid Prepaid Plans: These are some of the most expensive options available. Many tout how easy they are to get – and they are. But, you pay a premium – month after month after month.

Shop Wisely: Long-time, stable Pennsylvania electric providers offer low-cost options to everyone from credit-challenged consumers to those on fixed incomes, eg, LIHEAP.

This no-deposit electric service plan provides government funds to helps consumers pay their electric bill. Ask your Pennsylvania electricity company representative about LIHEAP, and other low-deposit and/or no-deposit electric plans you may qualify for.

The heat of a Texas summer sends many scurrying from their cars straight into the AC. And it’s no wonder, temperatures in the high 90s and low 100s are not uncommon. It’s no wonder that Texas crank up the AC during the summer.

According to the Forbes magazine article, Competition delivers lower power prices in Texas, “Texas households use twice as much power as the national average to run air conditioners in the summer, [with bills . . . likely to exceed $200-$300 in the hottest months of the year.”

Following are three tips to beat the summer heat in Texas — all while keeping those AC bills manageable.

Get a Room Air Conditioner: Turning the AC up and down uses more energy. And this is exactly what happens with an air conditioner used to cool an entire home (or one floor), for example. But, a room air conditioner keeps a room at a consistent temperature, which means you don’t have to constantly adjust the temperature to keep the space cool.

Purchase an Energy Star-Rated Air Conditioner: If you do, you’ll be eligible for a rebate under the Texas Trade Up Appliance Rebate Program. This program, which started on April 5th, gives rebates to consumers who buy Energy Star-rated appliances. The rebate for buying a central air conditioner under the plan is currently $600 to $1,000.

Ditch Prepaid Service Plans: If you currently have a prepaid electric service plan, you’re probably paying more for electricity than you need to. Most of these plans are designed to attract consumers with bad credit or those with low incomes. The problem is that they tend to cost more per month than regular electricity plans – two or three times as much!

If you’re currently signed to a plan like this, check with your electricity provider to see what types of plans out there that cost you less.

Since Texas deregulated its electricity market in 2002, many reliable, traditional electric suppliers have come up with innovative plans that save disadvantaged consumers money, eg, Texas’ LITE-UP program. It’s a no-deposit electricity plan that gives consumes a discount five months out of the year. Call your energy provider to see if you qualify for this plan, or others similar to it.

In Connecticut there are several electricity service choices available but most of these choices are based on credit. What you will find if you were to call on a few electricity companies in CT is that for a commercial business you will be asked for as much as $5,000 – $10,000 as a deposit amount to have electric service turned on. For residential electric service customers in CT the deposits can range anywhere from $300 – $500 to have your electricity service turned on in your home or apartment.
//

For many people these large deposits are already added on to a large deposit they had to pay to move into their home or apartment when paying their landlord. The added electricity service deposit can be too much for many. Fortunately there are government assistance programs for low income families. If you are not classified as low income you may find it very frustrating to find a cheap electricity rates in Connecticut while at the same time avoiding a deposit amount.

A better solution than getting the cheapest electric rate or signing up at a high rate but not paying a deposit is to go ahead and save up and pay that deposit. You will establish your self as a good paying customer with a provider that has cheap electricity prices in Connecticut and you will not have to pay a deposit the next to time you renew with them. Typically a Connecticut electricity supplier will give you your deposit back after 6 months into your electricity agreement.

There are also government assistance programs available for low income families in Connecticut which may be a solution for some families. If you believe you are one of the low income families you can still avoid going with a high priced prepaid electricity company and instead choose a traditional electricity provider in CT. The government may be able to assist you in paying your deposit with your chosen electricity company.

In PA you have your choice of who you want to choose for your electric provider. Many people in PA still do not realize they can choose a cheaper electric company. Right now the old monopoly electric companies in Pennsylvania have been forced to raise their electricity rates because they were fixed below energy market conditions. The artificial price freeze was causing the monopoly companies to lose money and so when the price ceiling was lifted these companies raised their electricity prices.
Competitors in PA were then able to come into the PA energy market and offer electricity prices much lower than what you may have been paying for some time. It is worth the energy it takes to shop around and find a cheaper electricity supplier in PA. One of the main concerns of many besides choosing an electricity supplier with a cheap rate is if the price comes with no deposit required.

Electricity deposits typically range from $300 – $500 for a residential electric customer with bad credit and as much as a few thousand dollars for commercial customers.

There are ways around paying a large PA electricity deposit. There are electric companies that specialize in offering prepaid electric service. The prepaid electric companies in PA will sell you electric service based on estimated usage. They typically use estimated electric usage from the previous tenant which could be good or bad depending on how energy efficient the old tenant was.
Depending on your area of Pennsylvania you may have a digital electric meter that sends back real time data to the electric utility. In your situation a PA prepaid electric supplier can install a smart meter chip that works with a prepaid electric billing system. The chip keeps track of your prepaid kilowatt hours you have purchased and lets you know when it is time to recharge your kilowatt hours on the meter so you don’t get your lights cut off prematurely.

In most cases you will pay about double the amount with a prepaid electric company in PA than you would if you went with a traditional electricity company that asks for a deposit. Most low income people will still choose the pay as you go choice simply because they cannot come up with $300 – $500 on the spot to put down as a deposit. Although we recommend not choosing a prepaid electric company we understand that sometimes that is your only option.

You do have another choice however besides prepaid electric service and paying a deposit with a traditional electric company. Pennsylvania has government programs and agencies that will work with low income families to help you pay your deposit amount or have your electric service deposit waived. For more information contact the PA PUC at 1-800-692-7380

Low-income consumers may also qualify for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). For information regarding LIHEAP Cash and Crisis benefits and Weatherization programs please call your local County Assistance Office or the state Department of Public Welfare at: 1-800-692-7462.

Houston Students Finding No Deposit Electric Service

Whether you are a college student or just getting back on your feet to establish yourself as a good paying customer you have a choice when it comes to Houston electric service. If you haven’t already experienced it you will soon discover that most Houston electric providers are going to ask you for a large deposit amount if your credit score has not yet been established or you have a poor credit score. Each electric company has different criteria for how they pass their electricity service customers on credit. If you would like to sign up with a Houston electric company that has a guaranteed electric rate offer than click on the link below.

Check Rates in Houston Texas – Click Here or call 1-800-971-4020

For a student or young person just establishing credit or moving into an apartment for the first time it is very probable that a Houston electric company is going to ask you for a deposit. For instance, I had a friend who recently tried signing up with Reliant Energy hoping she could get Houston electric service turned on in her name and avoid having to pay a large deposit amount. Reliant asked her for somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 to have electricity service turned on. She had already paid the Houston apartment complex $800 for the deposit for her apartment and did not have the money needed by Reliant Energy in Houston.

Pre-Paid Electric Service Everywhere but is it Worth It?

My friend could only find pre-paid Houston electricity companies and there terms and conditions were vague and what she could find out about their service plans did not seem very favorable to the Houston energy consumer. One thing she objected to in regards to going with a prepaid electricity company was the usage being based on estimated usage and not actual electric usage. For most people they will usage tripple the energy they normally use in the summer. For a student trying to conserve and keep the air conditioner down in the summer to save money a Houston prepaid electricity company can be more trouble then it is worth.

A Better Houston Electric Service Choice for Those Just Establishing Credit History

This friend of mine ran into me and I was able to tell her about a guaranteed no deposit Houston electricity company that will bill you for actual electric usage and not estimated usage from the previous tenant. They bill you as a traditional electric company does but they deduct the payment from a credit card on file. This credit card auto bill pay option allows them to offer a Houston electricity rate that has no deposit requirement. If you pay your Houston electricity bill on time the first 3 months that you are with them then you will be proactively lowered to this no deposit electricity companies cheapest electric rate plan.

If you would like to sign up for a no or low deposit Houston electricity plan over the phone then please call: 1-800-971-4020 The no and low deposit options are subject to a credit score check. You may be asked for a deposit for your electric service depending on how your credit comes back.

To sign up online with a reputable no and low deposit Houston electric company based on credit score please click here.

Dallas No Deposit Energy Service Companies

If you have bad credit or just have not yet had the opportunity to establish credit in your name because your young, a student, or really any number of reasons then a Dallas no deposit electric company may be a good choice for you. You can avoid a large deposit requirement and the headache of being declined by several Dallas electric companies by signing up with an energy provider that will guarantee no deposit will be required. You can also establish yourself as a good paying electric utility customer and establish some good credit history.

Check Rates in Dallas Texas – Click Here or call 1-800-971-4020

If you live in or around the Dallas Texas or Fort Worth Texas area and are trying to locate an electric company that offers a no deposit electric rate then we have an energy company that might fit your needs. With this Dallas no deposit electric company you can sign up on a variable electric rate that guarantees no deposit will be needed provided you have a good credit score. Unlike a pre-paid Dallas Texas electric company you are not charged for estimated electricity usage but instead on your actual Dallas electricity usage. The issue with being billed for your estimated electric usage is that you may use your electricity sparingly during the summer to save money. The previous tenant at your home or apartment may have used quite a bit more energy then what you plan to use. If the pre-paid electric company is charging you based on estimated usage they could be using last years usage history from someone else.

Preferred option is to be Billed for Actual Electric Usage

By being billed for actual electric usage you are being billed like you were on a traditional electric rate as those who have good credit usually sign up for. By signing up with a no deposit guaranteed Dallas electric company it is not like you are signing up for a terrible rate plan you are just getting into a workaround until your credit history or payment history has been improved or established. Many students just don’t have an established credit history with a utility. By signing up with a reputable Dallas electric company that offers guaranteed no deposit choices with fair terms and conditions you basically get a 2nd chance before you have to resort to going with a Dallas prepaid electricity provider.

How Does a No Deposit Electricity Plan Work?

The way the no deposit guaranteed Dallas electric company works is simply if your credit score meets the electricity companies guidlines they will let you sign up with no deposit. Not to worry, if you have a bad credit score you may only need to pay between $200 – $400 with some energy companies. With a prepaid electricity company you may end up paying that much in charges each month because pay as you go companies usually charge a higher rate. If you don’t have the money to pay an electricity service deposit I recommend getting any previous bill history from another provider you might have used. If you can show 12 months of current bill payments to your new provider they will likely not need a deposit. Another choice is to speak with the Department of Health and Human Services in Texas to see how they may be able to help.

To Begin the Electric Service Sign Up Process

To begin the process of getting your Dallas electric service turned on fast and in your name we need you to fill out some basic service address information. The no deposit electricity company will approve you online or you may call them if you would prefer signing up with someone over the phone. Call: 1-800-971-4020

Searching for the Cheapest Texas Electric Provider

If you have been searching high and low for a Texas electric company that will not ask for a deposit and is cheap then I have one thing to say, Bounce Energy. Provided you have a good credit score they can sign you up with no deposit required. If your credit is ok they may ask you for a small one and if it is bad we can help you by working with the state government. Call us at 1-800-971-4020 to learn more.

Credit Crunch Scenario, you Aren’t the Only One

Have you found yourself in the scenario of trying to sign up with the cheapest Texas electric company only to be told they want $500 or more from you to have electricity service turned on in your name? It could be that you used a social security number with no established credit. It may be that you fell behind on some bills with other Texas Light Companies and they reported your late bill payments to the credit bureaus.

Simple Solution to a Headache of a Problem

Whatever your credit issue is whether it be just or injust you have a second chance at signing up at a cheap Texas electric rate. Bounce Energy will charge you a little higher fixed rate your first three months with them. If you pay your Texas light company bill on time with your new provider you will establish good billing history and will likely never be asked for a deposit again when switching electricity companies. The important thing is to start somewhere and so we recommend paying a deposit if it will get you on a cheap electricity rate. This gives you a chance to repair any damage to your credit file as well as get on a low Texas electricity rate like some of your family or friends might be paying.

If you still need help we can get on a call with the Department of Health and Human Services and see if you qualify for low income assistance in paying for your electricity deposit.
